DK Backward Castes’ Union demand CBI probe into Sowjanya case

Mangalore, Oct 30, 2013: Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Unit of Backward Castes’ Union demanded CBI probe into Sowjanya rape and murder cases.


Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on Oct 30, Wednesday, M Jayananda Devadiga, secretary of Backward Castes Union said that the police have fixed a mentally ill man into the rape and murder case and arrested him.

He also said that while seeing the situation the girl’s body found, it cannot be done by a one person. The police and CID have failed to arrest the real culprits under the pressure charged from various quarters. 


Few groups are also trying to divert the mind of public by raising the issue by defaming Dharmasthala temple and its deities. It is not right to defame a great personality like Dr Veerendra Heggade and the temple, without getting the final report of the CBI. Hence the government must understand the feelings of Sowjanya’s parents and hand over the case to CBI, he urged.
