Mangalore, June 19, 2012: A DCIB team arrested a man in connection with a theft case near Puttur Railway Station on June 13, Monday. The arrested is K. R. Santhanam alias Anthony alias Chandran (47), son of late Baburaj and resident of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
Addressing reporters at a press conference held in his office, SP Abhishek Goyal said that the police have confiscated 70gms gold, 1.5kg silver, 1 mobile set, 1 laptop, a gold weighing machine, lock breaking equipment, and a stone to identify gold from his house in Kannur. He said that Anthony has broken into 12 houses in 2012.
Anthony, who is now in the custody of the Puttur police, was once arrested in 2003 for breaking into temples and was sentenced for 3 years in a Mysore Jail. After his release in 2007, he began stealing from houses in Puttur. The Kasargod police and the Vittal police had issued a warrant against him with regard to several theft cases.
The DCIB team that arrested Anthony comprised Vinay S. Nayak, DCIB inspector; Sudharshan, Puttur police inspector; and Sanjeeva Purusha, Udaya Rai, Chandra Adoor, Tharnath, Vijay Suvarna, Palanivelu, Rithesh Kumar, Mohammed Iqbal, Devayya, and others.
