Bengaluru, May 30, 2026: D K Shivakumar, who is set to become the next Chief Minister of Karnataka, will be sworn in on June 3 at the Glass House of Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru, Congress State Working President G C Chandrashekhar announced on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference, Chandrashekhar said there was initial confusion regarding the venue for the swearing-in ceremony, but it was eventually decided that the event would be held at Lok Bhavan.

“A decision has now been taken that the swearing-in ceremony will be held on June 3,” he said, adding that the exact time of the ceremony would be finalised and announced later.

Chandrashekhar said discussions had taken place on arranging 10,000 to 15,000 buses from different parts of the state to bring supporters to Bengaluru for a large-scale event. However, the plan was dropped in view of the ongoing fuel crisis and potential traffic congestion.

“The swearing-in ceremony should not be extravagant. It should be conducted as simply as possible and reflect a spirit of work and service rather than display or pomp. The party has decided that the event will be held in a simple manner,” he said.

He further stated that after taking oath, Shivakumar would personally visit each district to meet party workers and supporters instead of inviting them to Bengaluru.

Chandrashekhar appealed to Congress workers and supporters not to travel to the venue in large numbers and to cooperate in ensuring smooth traffic movement and public convenience.
