Customs officials seize gold, gutka worth Rs 4.23 lakhs from 2 men at airport

 Mangalore, Aug 30, 2013: Customs officials at the Mangalore international airport at Bajpe have seized 173 grams of gold, cigarettes and gutka, all valued at   Rs 4,23,850  on August 29, Thursday.

The officials, acting on a tip off  seized 20 gold chains weighing 173 grams which were hidden in an extension cord box  from one Abdul Rehman Kunhi who had arrived by a flight from Dubai.

In another  case, the officials seized 50 cigarette cartons and 5000 sachets of RMD Gutka from a passenger named Rehman. He too had arrived by a Dubai flight.

The arrests were made under the guidance of Customs Commissioner D Purushottam.
