Cops to ban pillion riding by men for a week in city: ADGP Alok Kumar

Mangaluru, Aug 04, 2022: ADGP(Law and Order) Alok Kumar  has said that male pillion riders will not be allowed for a week in the city  once the present night curfew is relaxed.

Speaking to reporters on August 4, Thursday, Alok Kumar said the Police Department would issue an order to this effect. At the same time children, women and senior citizens are exempt from this rule, he added.

He further said prohibitory orders under Section 144 will be in place till August 5 and added that night curfew will be relaxed in phases.

Alok Kumar who took stock of the law and order situation in the city, said the police are maintaining a strict vigil even on criminals  in old cases. He said investigation into the Fazil murder case is underway under the leadership of ACP Mahesh Kumar and added  that the chargesheet will be filed once probe is complete.

The ADGP said as many as 100 check posts have been set up in the district and six in Mangaluru Police Commissionerate limits for  strict checking of vehicles. KSRP platoons are also posted to ensure law and order, he added.

He also said he will be visiting Bellare to know the progress of the Praveen Nettaru case and also to discuss the formalities of handing over the case to NIA.
