Cops raid Ujire lodge : 5 women rescued, 2 men taken into custody

Belthangady, Feb 08, 2023: Police  have raided a lodge at Ujire on Tuesday evening and rescued five women and took into custody two men in connection with a prostitution racket  that was underway in the lodge. The raid followed information from activists of a Hindu organisation.

 

It may be recalled here that the police had on Monday night raided as many as 20 lodges in Ujire and vicinity including the one which was raided again on Tuesday. The operation was conducted by Bantwal DySP Pratap Singh Thorat and his team under the guidance of SP Amathe Vikram.

It is said the particular lodge owner had earlier been summoned and warned but as flesh trade continued unabatedly, the police raided the lodge again.
