Cops blow the whistle on Vacuum Horn in Mangalore.

Mangalore, Nov.28: District traffic police, on Saturday stopped a large number of city buses sporting Vacuum Horn near RTO office and seized the noisy equipment. The old fashioned Vacuum Horn with rubber, a common feature in all vehicles of yester years, has now been replaced by modern electrical devices.

 

Despite the  government order banning the use of such  horns on the grounds that they cause noise pollution, many public vehicles still carry these horns and the drivers mindlessly honk for the slightest reason. Hence the police crackdown became essential. Police have warned that buses are only an initial target and other vehicles too would be stopped in the next phase of the operation.
