Mangalore, Feb 2, 2012: State JD(S) President and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has lashed out at the Congress for making false promises to the people.
Speaking to media men at a residence of a party worker at Jalligudda on February 2, Saturday, Kumaraswamy blamed the Congress for the water distribution problem in the state and also for the atmosphere of communal tension. He further stated that the Congress was also responsible for the Idgah and Datta Peetha row that cropped up during the party’s tenure. The same thing is repeated with regard to the proposed Tipu University now, Kumaraswamy said.
On the forthcoming assembly elections, Kumaraswamy said the main opponent for the JD(S) was the Congress and said the BJP, KJP and BSR parties were irrelevant.
Kumaraswamy was also critical of senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah and said the leader was making big statements just with an intention of grabbing power. He said Siddaramaiah who is now promising to send behind bars those BJP men who are looting state’s resources in the event of the Congress coming to power, used to say the same when he was in the JD(S),The only difference being that then he targeted the Congress of which he is a part now, Kumaraswamy said.
The JD(S) leader also hoped that his party would win at least three seats in DK.
Several party leaders including District President MB Sadashiva, State Vice President Nagaraj Shetty and party candidate from Mangalore South Sadananda Shetty were present.
