Congress to stage protest in Mangalore against Governor’s nod to prosecute CM

Mangaluru, August 18, 2024: The Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee has announced a protest march in Mangalore on August 19, condemning what they describe as a partisan decision by the Governor. The protest is in response to the Governor’s approval of a prosecution request against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, allegedly under pressure from the BJP and the central government.


Congress to stage protest in Mangalore


The march is scheduled to begin at 10 AM from the Brahmashree Narayana Guru Circle at Ladyhill, and will proceed towards the Mahatma Gandhi statue at Lal Bagh. Following the march, a protest meeting will be held at the venue.

Prominent leaders, including Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Vice President and observer Prakash Rathod, former ministers, MLAs, ex-MPs, former MLAs, and other senior party leaders from the district are expected to participate in the event.

District Congress President K. Harish Kumar announced the protest, urging party members and supporters to join the march in large numbers to express their opposition to what he termed as a politically motivated move by the Governor.
