
Mangalore, Aug 11, 2013: A Congress delegation led by PV Mohan visited Niddodi on August 10, Saturday and inspected the area where the proposed 4000 mw ultra mega thermal power project is to come up. The visit comes days after the team was gheraoed and sent back by angry villagers brandishing brooms and slippers.


The team visited Bangerapadavu near Niddodi found that the area earmarked for the proposed project was an agricultural land and was filled with greenery. PV Mohan who led the team assured to prepare a factual report and submit it AICC and Union Minister Oscar Fernandes.
The team earlier visited the fields of several farmers in Niddodi and also visited Kallamundkur, Muchur, Tenkamijar and Ashwathapura.
The representatives of Mathru Bhoomi Samrakshana Samithi brought to the notice of the delegation that the central team which visited the spot some time back had reported that 75 per cent of the land earmarked for the project was barren land while in reality it was a fertile land.
Joachim Correa, President of Kallamundkur Panchayat, Alphonse D’Souza, President of Mathru Bhoomi Samrakshana Samithi, Kiran Manjanbail, Convenor, and others were present.
