Congress fields Sorake from Kaup

Udupi,April 17, 2013 : Vinaykumar Sorake, AICC Secretary and former Udupi MP is the Congress candidate from Kaup assembly constituency.

 

The party leadership has finally chosen Sorake for the constituency after days of suspense. With this the Congress has chosen candidates for all the 224 seats in the state.

 

Kaup constituency had several aspirants from the Congress including former minister Vasanth Salian and Suresh Shetty Gurme, a businessman. Several others in the race were Kaup Diwaker Shetty, Y Sukumar, MA Gafur, Sarasu D Bangera and Harish Kini.

It is believed that the high command was also under pressure to accommodate Sorake from some constituency as otherwise he may be a strong contender for a ticket for LS elections.
