Congress Government’s Appeasement Policy Causing Unrest in Karnataka: Nalin Kumar Kateel

Mangaluru, June 2, 2024: Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel cautioned the State government on Saturday about serious consequences if incidents like offering ’namaz’ on public roads were not addressed appropriately.

Addressing reporters, Mr. Kateel accused the Congress of continuing its anti-Hindu stance, referencing the withdrawal of a suo motu case registered in the Kankanadi Namaz incident and the filing of a case against VHP-Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell for expressing his views on the matter.

Mr. Kateel criticized the police officer involved in the suo motu case, stating it was ironic that the officer faced punitive action. He questioned the necessity of registering and subsequently withdrawing the suo motu case, and demanded the immediate withdrawal of the case against Mr. Pumpwell.

He further alleged that the Congress’s minority appeasement policy was causing unrest throughout Karnataka. He claimed the government failed to act against individuals who shouted pro-Pakistan slogans in Vidhana Soudha and displayed the Pakistan flag during a Congress victory march. According to Mr. Kateel, there was a state of Goonda Raj, with attempts to terrorize people through communal incitements.

Regarding former Udupi MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat contesting as an independent candidate from the South West Graduates’ constituency for the Karnataka Legislative Council elections, Mr. Kateel remarked that rebellion was common in a democracy. He believed voters would not take rebels seriously and would favor the BJP candidate, Dhananjay Sarji, who has been active in social service. Mr. Kateel emphasized that the party leadership had considered all aspects before finalizing Mr. Sarji’s candidacy.
