Mangalore, February 11: ’Okuli’ or festival of colors was celebrated with full zest at Carstreet in Mangalore on Friday as part of the final day of the six day annual Car Festival of Sri Venkatramana Temple.
On Friday morning at 9.00 am, large number of devotees have assembled in the main car street of the temple to take part in the Okuli Habba. The celebrations passed off peacefully, thanks to the elaborate security arrangement. The revellers moved around beating drums, splashing colours, singing and dancing.
Young people dance to the loud music pumped in through high wattage systems as Lord Venkatramana and Goddess Padmavathi are on the first journey of their wedded life.
Thousands of G.S.Bs joined by many non-G.S.B. friends swarmed Car Street and the surrounding areas, dancing on the streets and spraying coloured water on each other, as Lord Venkatramana and Goddess Padmavathi proceeded on the first journey of their wedded life.
Thus the six day annual Car festival of the famous Venkatrama temple , Mangalore ended today with colourful okuli festival.
