College bus overturns at Benjanapadavu; several students injured

Mangalore, Feb 26, 2013: Several students of the Canara Engineering College at Benjanapadavu sustained minor injuries when their college bus overturned after hitting a hillock on February 25, Monday evening.

It has been learnt that the mishap took place when the driver of the bus applied brake all of a sudden to avoid hitting an oncoming car.

The accident occurred on a slopy road.  The students were heard thanking their stars as well as the presence of mind of the driver but for whom the bus would have rolled into  a deep gorge nearby.

Nearly 50 students were in the bus when the mishap took place. Even the driver sustained injuries in the accident.

Bantwal rural police have registered a case.
