College Student Killed, Another Injured in Motorcycle–Scooter Collision Near Beltangady

Beltangady, July 19, 2026: A 19-year-old college student was killed and another youth sustained serious injuries after a motorcycle collided with a scooter near Maddadka on Saturday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Kaushik Gowda (19), a resident of Ballamanja and a student of a college in Bantwal. The injured, Bharath (20) of Madanthyar, who was riding pillion on the motorcycle, has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

According to local residents, the accident occurred on the national highway when a scooter reportedly entered the highway from a connecting road, resulting in a head-on collision with the motorcycle.

Residents said the accident spot is a known blackspot where several road accidents have occurred in the past.

Personnel from the Beltangady Traffic Police visited the scene, conducted an inspection, and registered a case.
