
Deralakatte, June 28, 2026: An Infosys employee was killed and several college students were injured after a college bus lost control and overturned into a roadside drain near Natekal junction, close to Deralakatte, on Saturday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Prajwal Arnold (31), a native of Chikkamagaluru, who was working with Infosys.

According to police and eyewitnesses, the bus, carrying students from Konaje to Mangaluru, was attempting to overtake a motorcycle near Natekal when the driver reportedly lost control. The vehicle veered off the road and toppled into a roadside drain.
During the mishap, the motorcycle rider was trapped beneath the bus. Local residents and passersby rushed to the spot and, with the help of a crane, lifted the bus to rescue him. He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries despite treatment.
Several students travelling in the bus sustained injuries and were provided medical attention. Their condition is stated to be stable.
The accident drew a large crowd, leading to traffic congestion in the area for some time. Police visited the scene, conducted a preliminary inspection, and have registered a case. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
