Coastal Karnataka braces for heavy rain as IMD issues yellow alert till Aug 19

Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 14, 2025: After a brief lull, monsoon showers are set to intensify along the coast, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts from August 14 to 19. Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds is expected during this period.

On Wednesday, parts of Dakshina Kannada, including Mangaluru, recorded moderate showers, with the maximum temperature at 26.9°C and the minimum at 22.9°C.

Udupi district also saw moderate rainfall under overcast skies, with showers reported in Padubidri, Kaup, Shirva, Katapadi, Udupi, Malpe, Brahmavar, Kota, Manipal, Hebri, Karkala, Kundapur, and Byndoor.
