Class 10 student from Kerala goes missing in Chikkamagaluru’s Chandradrona hill range

Chikkamagaluru, Apr 8, 2026: A Class 10 student from Kerala has gone missing in the Chandradrona hill range after visiting popular tourist spots Mullayyanagiri and Bababudangiri. A large-scale search operation has been launched by family members, forest officials, and police.

The student was part of a group of around 40 relatives who had travelled from Palakkad. The group had visited Manikyadhara Falls in the Chandradrona range.

The girl was reported missing around 5:30 pm. Family members searched for her until about 8 pm before alerting the police. Search operations by police and forest personnel continued through the night.

Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Dayama said thermal drones were deployed to aid the search until 4:30 am. Disaster management teams joined the operation in the morning, and further efforts are ongoing.
