Clash in District Prison again: Under trial brutally assaulted

Mangalore, Sep 5, 2013: There has been one more clash in the District Prison in Mangalore. Muneer Ahmed, an under trial who has been seriously hurt in the clash has been admitted to Wenlock Hospital. A case has been registered in Barke police station against Soori, Rajgopal and Raja.

Here it is worth mentioning that Muneer Ahmed, a onetime police informer was placed in a separate  block after he was attacked by Rasheed Malbari group a few months ago.

He was  brutally assaulted by Soori alias Soorya, Gopal, Raja  on September 4, Wednesday suspecting that the information passed on by Muneer had led to a raid on the prison by a police team lead by ACP Kavitha on September 3, Tuesday evening. Of the accused in this case, Soorya is already facing the charges of assaulting jailer Vijaykumar Chauhan on Tuesday morning.

Though there is information that the police team during Tuesday evening’s raid had seized a mobile set, the ACP has denied this.

Victim’s wife speaks: However Shafika Begam, wife of Muneer Ahmed has something else to says. She argues that she had been repeatedly receiving calls from  the three accused from prison pressurizing her to bring ganja and tablet and also threatening to attack Muneer otherwise. She also alleged that her husband was attacked on this pretext. Shafika also informed that  she would lodge a complaint in this regard.
