Mangalore, Oct 4, 2013 : The port city is all geared up for the grand Mangalore Dasara celebrations. Several prominent streets of Mangalore are illuminated with decorative lights presenting a whole new world.
The Navaratri celebrations at Sri Gokarnanatha Temple at Kudroli famous as Mangalore Dasara has over the years seen a large influx of tourists to the city to witness the grand celebrations being held under the leadership of former union minister B Janardhan Poojari, the rallying force behind the renovation of the temple.










Dasara this year will be held from October 5 to 15. Around 20 lakh lights have been used to illuminate various streets of Mangalore. Jeevandas of Mangalore has been entrusted this work which is done with the assistance of sub-contractors from Bangalore, Mysore, Kasargod and other places. Around 100 workers have been engaged in this task since the past 15 days.
Golden Hues: The Sri Gokarnanatha Kalyana Mantap at Kudroli Temple where the idols of Goddess Sharada and other Navadurgis are to be installed, has been tastefully decorated under the leadership of Mulki Chandrashekhar suvarna. The idols will be installed on October 5.
The Grand Shobhayatra will be held on October 15. Harikrishna Bantwal, Member of the Temple Development Committee says this time maximum number of tableaux from various places are expected to take part in the procession. Last year being the centenary year of the temple, there were 57 tableaux. Harikrishna also informed that over 15 lakh devotees are expected to accept Anna Prasada at the Temple during the ten day long festivities.
