City Police Commissioner’s office to open tomorrow

Mangalore, June 25: The office of the Police Commissioner is all set to open on Saturday, June 26. The commissioner will discharge his duty from the renovated police guest house at Dakshina Kannada District Head Quarters, which has been altered as the new police Commissioner’s office. The inaugural function of the new commissioner office will take place at 12 pm.

Dr V S Acharya, State Home Minister, Krishna J Palemar, District In charge Minister, Ajay Kumar Singh, state inspector general and director general of police  other top police officials and politicians will take part in the function.


Gopal B Hosur, inspector-general of police (western range), who was holding concurrent charge as the police commissioner, handed over charge to Seemanth, at a simple function at the western range office on May 30. The commissionerate was inaugurated on January 26.


The 40 year old Singh, a1996 batch IPS officer, was operating his duty from the office of Superintendent of police A S Rao, who was undergoing a special training at Hyderbad at that time. But, after the arrival of A S Rao, Singh has performed his duty from the office of additional SP R Ramesh.


Totally 17 police stations including Mulki and Moodabidre come under police commissionerate jurisdiction. Two DCP and five ACP will be deputed to work under city police commissioner. According to a recent changes made in the police department, R Ramesh, Additional Superintendent of police, DK, has been deputed as Deputy Commissioner Police (Law and Order).
