
Mangalore, Jan 18, 2014: The Citizens Forum for Mangalore Development organized a campaign ‘Namma Neeru’ against the privatization of water in front of DC office on Jan 18, Saturday.
The demonstrators launched ‘Namma Neeru’, a signature campaign to appeal against privatization of water in the state.


Addressing the demonstrators, Ganesh Kadari, district convener of the forum said that the month-long campaign aims to collect one lakh signatures from the general public, who struggle to fight against the privatization of water and submit the collected signature to the Chief Minister Siddharamaiah on Feb 10.
He also said that the state must enact new law to provide water security to all citizens of the state. Each person should be provided with 135 litres of free water daily and there is need to strengthen public water institutions and democratize their functioning.
The protestors demanded to end to all forms of water privatization taking place in the state.
Activist Vidya Dinker and many others participated in the demonstration.
