Mangalore, Dec 22: Delivering his Christmas message on Tuesday, Rev. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese said that Christ came into the world to bring peace, and in the modern world, Christ’s message of peace and fraternity is relevant.

Speaking about the significance of the season, he said that the midnight mass on December 24 is celebrated in honor of Jesus Christ and his holy birth and that Christmas is one festival people celebrate irrespective of caste, creed, region, and other human differences.

Informing that the Mangalore Diocese will be extended to DK, Kasargod, and Udupi, he said that there are 158 churches in Mangalore Diocese along with a number of priests and nuns, 350 colleges, including prestigious colleges such as St. Joseph Engineering College, Fr. Mullers Medical College, and first grade colleges. He also said that 4 lakh Christians reside in the coastal region in peace and brotherhood with members of other communities. He concluded by calling upon the community to work harmoniously to fulfill their goals and to lead the country on the path of development.
