Chikkamagaluru: Private bus crashes into electric pole; passengers escape unhurt

Chikkamagaluru, Mar 16, 2026: A private bus collided with an electric pole near Sangameshwarapete in N.R. Pura taluk of Chikkamagaluru district early Monday, March 16. No casualties were reported in the incident.

The bus was travelling from Bengaluru to Sringeri when the accident occurred near Sangameshwarapete. According to preliminary information, the driver tried to give way to an oncoming vehicle. However, due to rain, the road had become slippery and the driver lost control of the bus.

The vehicle then crashed into a roadside electric pole, causing it to break and fall onto the bus.

Electric power supply was immediately cut off after the pole fell, helping prevent any major mishap. All passengers on board escaped without serious injuries.

Police from Balehonnur police station visited the spot and are conducting an inspection.
