Chikkamagaluru: Parents, Hindu organisations protest Eid Milad celebration at school

Chikkamagaluru, Aug 29, 2026: A private school in Chikkamagaluru cancelled a planned Eid Milad celebration on Saturday, August 29, following protests by some parents and members of Hindu organisations.

The incident was reported at a private school near AIT Circle in Chikkamagaluru city. The school had informed parents and students through WhatsApp about the Eid Milad programme and had asked students to wear jubbas to school for the occasion.

Objecting to the event, some parents and members of Hindu organisations gathered outside the school and expressed their opposition. They also questioned the teachers about the reasons for organising the celebration on the school premises.

Following the protest, the school management decided to cancel the programme.

Personnel from Chikkamagaluru Town police station visited the spot and took note of the situation.
