Chikkamagaluru: 26-year-old man dies after accidental gunshot during hunting trip

Balehonnur, Oct 2, 2026: A 26-year-old man died after he was accidentally shot during an alleged hunting trip at Hiregadde village in Koppa taluk of Chikkamagaluru district on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Chethan Kademane, a resident of Hiregadde.

According to police, Chethan had gone hunting with five friends when a gun allegedly went off accidentally, hitting him in the abdomen.

His friends rushed him to a hospital, but he died on the way, police said.

Jayapura police have taken three of the five friends into custody, while the other two are reportedly absconding.

Further investigation is underway.
