Chemical laden tanker overturns at Kallapu; minor injuries to driver

Mangaluru, Mar 22, 2023: A tanker from Kochi in Kerala which was transporting chemical to a paint manufacturing industry  at Baikampady, overturned  on the NH 66 at Kallapu late night on March 21, Tuesday after the driver lost control over the vehicle. The driver Mayoor (40) who sustained minor injuries has been admitted to the hospital.

The fire service personnel, traffic police continued their operation till 1 am to remove the tanker from the  middle of the Highway. The entire area was filled with a foul smell due to the chemical leakage from the tanker,. Immediately power connection was snapped and all vehicles on either side of the road were prevented from moving.

Later the lorry and the tanker were removed with the help of a crane. As the tanker had several layers of protective shield, only a small quantity of chemical had lacked.

Ullal MLA U T Khader though was in Bengaluru had sent his personal assistant Praveen to the spot and  gathered all information regarding the operation to clear the tanker from the road.
