Mangalore, Nov 16, 2013: District in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai said that central government has sanctioned Rs 4 crore to undertake temporary road repair work at Shiradi Ghat and the National Highway authority will commence the road work in a week.
Speaking at the press meet held at his new office at DC Office premises on November 16, Saturday, he said that the local MP who is responsible to undertake the initiative of road work is playing a political gimmick, hence Transport minister Oscar Fernandes has taken an initiative to undertake the work.
He also said that the people of Chattisgarh praised their chief minister Raman Singh and honoured him with a title ‘Chaval Wala Babu’ for giving 1 kg rice at Rs 2, but the people of Karnataka never appreciated CM Siddaramaih even after giving rice at Rs 1.
Rai also said that the previous BJP led state and Central government had never sanctioned the fund exceeding Rs 125 crores to the state, under central road fund, but the Congress led transport minister Oscar Fernandes has allotted Rs 1,000 crore for road development.
The Congress led government after coming into power, launched many developmental work in the society giving importance to weaker section of the society.
The state government allotted the compensation of Rs 20 crore to the state for the farmers who suffered loss due to rots in arecanut, out of which Rs six crore is allotted to the DK and Udupi districts. It has also sanctioned the fund of Rs 20 crore to the endosulfan victims, he added.
Speaking on Yettinahole project, he said that before the starting the project, the scientific research has to be conducted in the area.
