Centenarian sister honored on Nirkan Parish Day

Bantwal, April 22: Sr. Cresentia of the Congregation of Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany was felicitated during a programme organized at St Thomas the Apostle Church at Nirkan, Vogga on April 18, Sunday. Bishop of Mangalore Fr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza presided over the programme and lauded Sr. Cresentia as a “woman of faith and service,” who is a “grandmother” to everybody around her, and congratulated her on having completed 100 years of age.

The people of Nirkan are fond of Sr. Cresentia and consider her as their own grandmother. They make it a point to rush to her for solutions to their problems. Sr. Cresentia is known for her gentle sense of humor, her power to recollect the past in minute detail, and her ability to solve problems. 


During the occasion, the bishop felicitated the parish priest, the ward leaders, and members of the parish council, who had rendered distinguished services to the parish in particular and the society in general. The bishop honored Fr Naveen Pinto, the first priest to be ordained at Nirkan parish. Fr. Edwin Cardoza was also honored for his loving service to the parish. V P Lobo, a well wisher of Sr. Cresentia, a parishioner, and a businessman based in Mumbai, was also felicitated. V P Lobo also gave away prizes to the winners of the Parish Day sports competitions. 

 

Fr Edwin Correa welcomed the gathering. Stany Lobo, the vice president of the parish council, expressed gratitude. Secretary of the Parish Council Christine Lasrado presented the annual report. Alphonse Fernandes compered the event.
