Caught on camera, cock thief in police net

Belthangady, May 23, 2013 : A   man who had participated in the auctioning of cocks seized from an illegal cock fighting den,  has been arrested  after CCTV footages of the police station revealed that he had secretly stolen one of the cocks.

A police team led by ASP Kuldeep had earlier  raided a cock fighting den in Odinala village and had seized ten  cocks and arrested five persons. The police had later arranged for the auctioning of the seized cocks with the court’s permission.

However, the police who auctioned nine cocks, found that the tenth one was missing. When search went futile, they decided to check the footages of the newly  installed CC Camera in the station and found that one of the persons who participated in the auctioning had silently stolen one of the cocks.

The thief has been identified as  Diwaker Poojari from Melanthabettu village. A case has been registered against him.
