Cattle trafficking detected at Gurupur ; culprits flee

Mangalore, July 10, 2013 : Close on the heels of a case of cattle smuggling reported from Gangolli, another case has been reported, this time in Gurupur in the wee hours of July 10, Wednesday. As many as 19 cows and calves have been seized from the Mahindra pick-up vehicle after a hot chase by the police.

 

 

 

 

The police who were on a routine checking grew suspicious when they saw the vehicle sans number plate speed forthing.  Instead of stopping as per direction, the vehicle took to the reverse and finally the police had to chase the car to  intercept it near the Gurupur bridge. However, those in the vehicle managed to escape.

Reports said four of the 19 cows have died due to the cramming into the vehicle.  Mangalore Rural police are conducting the investigations.
