Catholic community sets a grand beginning to Monthi Fest

Mangalore, September 8: The members of the Catholic community grandly celebrated Monthi Fest on September 7, Tuesday with a procession from Attavar to Milagres Church Hall, following by the Holy Mass.

Ignatius Pinto, the retired archbishop, blessed the procession at its point of commencement in Attavar. A tableau of Infant Mary with choir passed through the streets before gathering at Milagres Church Hall where the image of Infant Mary was ceremoniously installed at the altar.


The young children carried flowers, which they offered to Infant Mary on the way, and thousands of Catholics participated in the procession. Sheaves of paddy were carried on the procession, which was led by Fr. William D’Mello, the parish priest; Fr. Thomas Roshan D’Souza, the assistant parish priest; and Alwyn Rosario, the vice president of the parish council.


A similar procession of Infant Mary will be held from Milagres Church Hall to Milagres Church on September 8, Wednesday at 8 a.m. followed by the Holy Mass.
