Car catches fire while bringing patient to district hospital in Chikkamagaluru

Chikkamagaluru, December 23, 2025: Panic briefly gripped the Malleshgowda District Hospital premises on Tuesday after a car transporting a patient caught fire near the hospital entrance.

The fire broke out as the vehicle was entering the hospital compound, reportedly due to sparks from the engine. Ambulance personnel present at the spot acted swiftly, evacuating the patient and other occupants in time and averting a major mishap.

All those in the car escaped unharmed.

Hospital staff and local residents used water and oxygen cylinders to extinguish the flames. However, the front portion of the vehicle was completely gutted by the fire.

A short circuit is suspected to have caused the incident, which created a brief tense situation at the hospital.
