Candle light procession in Valencia to pay tributes to Jacintha Saldanha

Mangalore, Dec 13, 2012:  Over 500 people marched in a candle light procession which was taken out from Valencia Circle to Bendorewell Circle in Mangalore on December 12, Wednesday to pay tributes to the departed soul of Jacintha Saldanha who reportedly ended her life in London following a prank call.

Various organizations as well as local residents took part in the procession which was flagged off by Fr Bonaventure, Parish Priest of Valencia Church.


Addressing the gathering near Bendorewell Circle, Fr Bonaventure said Valencia in Mangalore fondly remembered Jacintha who was born and brought up there. Stating that no one was ready to believe that she has committed suicide, as told by the London Police, he urged for a thorough probe into the case and justice to Jacintha family. He also said the body of Jacintha should be handed over to the family as soon as possible.

Fr Maxim Rosario from Jeppu Seminary sought the intervention of the Indian government in the case. Former MLA Hasanabba and Registrar St Aloysius College, Prof  Narahari also spoke on the occasion. Leaders including  Ivan D’Douza, Mithun Rai, Praveen Chandra Alva, Kripa Alva and many others were present.
