Mangalore, Nov 17, 2011: The Coastal Security Force (CSF) has been inspecting the movement of certain boats in the seas of Kotepura, Kudroli, and Ullal for the past few days, following complaints from fishermen that certain boats were behaving in a suspicious manner.
The fishermen who usually catch fish in these regions observed certain strange vessels with strange people on board. They suspected that these people were involved in illegal fishing activities and complained to the CSF.
Accordingly, the CSF police have seized 9 boats and interrogated their crew. The police said that the strangers are from Tamil Nadu and that they have been presented to the Coast Guard for further interrogation.
In another case, local fishermen complained to the fisheries department that a large boat and two small boats had fake registration numbers. The fisheries officials and the CSF police have discussed the matter and have decided to lodge a complaint with the Coast Guard.
