
Karkala, Feb 25, 2026: Siddaramaiah on Wednesday inaugurated the newly built Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavan at Havaldar Bettu in Kabettu, Karkala taluk.
Constructed by the Social Welfare Department at an estimated cost of Rs 7 crore, the facility was opened in the presence of several ministers, elected representatives, officials and district leaders.
Those who attended the ceremony included Social Welfare Minister H C Mahadevappa, former Chief Minister M Veerappa Moily, Women and Child Development and District In-charge Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa, former minister and MLA Sunil Kumar, Dakshina Kannada District Cooperative Bank president M N Rajendra Kumar, Coastal Authority chairman M A Gaffoor, former ministers Gopal Poojary and Jayaprakash Hegde, Congress leader and District Guarantee Implementation Committee vice-president Muniyal Uday Shetty, Vinay Kumar Sorake, MLA Harish Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Swaroopa T K, MLC Ivan D’Souza, entrepreneur Bola Damodar Kamath, Shubhada Rao, Harsha Moily and several other dignitaries.
Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Kisan Sabha Auditorium at the Mahatma Gandhi Residential High School, run by the Kisan Sabha Trust in Karkala.
The twin inaugurations marked a major boost for Karkala, with the new Ambedkar Bhavan expected to emerge as a key centre for social and community activities in the region.
