CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda inaugurates new Press Club hall

Mangalore, Feb 12, 2012: Chief Minister D. V. Sadananda Gowda inaugurated the new hall of the Press Club of Mangalore, which is located at Ladyhill, Urwa Market Road, on Feb 12 Sunday. 


In his address, he said that the new hall is meant not only for the media, but also for the district, since the news is being disseminated from this venue.

Stating that the state government has earmarked Rs. 25 lakh for the establishment of Press Clubs in every district. He said that Rs. 12.5 lakh is being given to the Press Club in Mangalore. He added that he will be happy to sanction more when need arise. 


Speaking about Mangalore, he said that it isone of the fastest-growing cities in the state and that the media is doing excellent work in bringing about positive change. He also said that the state has given several facilities to the media to encourage them to continue the good work. 


Deputy Speaker N. Yogish Bhat, MLA K. Abhayachandra Jain, MLA U. T. Khader, MLA B. Ramanath Rai, Mayor Praveen, ZP President Shailaja Bhat, and Belur Gopalakrishna were among those on the dais. 


Prominent citizens such as Seemanth Kumar Singh, the Mangalore police commissioner, IGP Prathap Reddy, DC Channappa Gowda, ZP CEO Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash, and many others were also present. 


P. B. Harish Rai, the president of the DKWJU, delivered the welcome address. Raveendra Shetty was the MC.
