CM D K Shivakumar visits Kadri temple, interacts with Mangaluru social media influencers

Mangaluru, September 18, 2026: Chief Minister D K Shivakumar visited the historic Kadri Manjunatha Temple on Friday ahead of the Karnataka Cabinet meeting in Mangaluru.

Shivakumar offered prayers at the temple and sought the blessings of Lord Manjunatha. Several Cabinet ministers also visited the temple and offered prayers before heading to Praja Soudha in Padil for the Cabinet meeting.

The Cabinet meeting, the first to be held in Mangaluru, is expected to discuss development issues concerning the coastal region, including tourism and other regional priorities.

CM interacts with social media influencers

Earlier, Shivakumar held a breakfast interaction with Mangaluru-based social media influencers at a café. The discussion focused on tourism, the city’s development and ways to promote Mangaluru to a wider audience.

Highlighting Mangaluru’s tourism potential, Shivakumar pointed to the need for better hospitality infrastructure, including more high-end hotels, and called for greater efforts to showcase the city as a tourism destination.

He remarked that Mangaluru becomes a “dead city” after 7 pm and said social media influencers could play an important role in highlighting the city’s attractions and promoting it beyond the region.

The Chief Minister also discussed education and the need to create better opportunities for the younger generation.
