
Mangaluru, Dec 7, 2025: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested four persons on Saturday for allegedly attempting to sell over half a kilogram of MDMA, valued at around ₹50 lakh, to students and youth in the city.
Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy identified the accused as Mohammed Shiab alias Shiab of Navunda, Byndoor; Mohammed Naushad alias Naushad of Naringana, Ullal; Imran alias Imba of Kasaba Bengre, Mangaluru; and Nissar Ahmed alias Nissar of Brahmarakootlu, Bantwal.

Acting on specific information, a team led by CCB Assistant Commissioner of Police Manoj Kumar Naik intercepted a multi-utility vehicle near the Sundar Ram Shetty Convention Hall on NH-66 in Mulki police station limits. During the search, police recovered 517.76 grams of MDMA from the accused.
The police also seized the vehicle, valued at about ₹10 lakh, and five mobile phones. During interrogation, the accused reportedly told investigators that they had procured the contraband from a Nigerian national in Bengaluru and brought it to Mangaluru to sell to students and youngsters in public places.
As the seized substance fell under commercial quantity, police invoked stringent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and booked the accused under Sections 21(C) and 22(C). Mulki police have registered a case and further investigation is under way.
