Byndoor, Mar 6, 2026: In a daring daylight burglary, unidentified thieves broke open the lock of a house and escaped with gold and cash worth lakhs of rupees at Paduvari in Byndoor.

The incident occurred at the Patwal House residence, from where around 20 sovereigns of gold and ₹2 lakh in cash were reportedly stolen. No one was present in the house at the time of the burglary.

Theft

It is suspected that the thieves had gathered prior information about the house and carried out the crime after confirming that it was unoccupied. The house is located in a densely populated residential area with several houses nearby, and both Paduvari and Someshwara roads pass close to it.

Since the house has a tiled roof structure, it is believed that the burglars were able to easily break open the lock and gain entry. Parameshwara Patwal’s son, daughter-in-law and their two children reside in the house. Police suspect that individuals with prior knowledge of the family’s movements may have been involved in the theft.

A sniffer dog squad was deployed and tracked the scent up to the road beside the house before losing the trail. A fingerprint team and officials from the Byndoor police station visited the spot and carried out an inspection.

Police said that a team has been formed under the guidance of the Superintendent of Police to trace the burglars.

Earlier this week, on Tuesday, a gang of thieves broke into a jewellery shop on Bankeshwara Road in Byndoor and stole silver ornaments. The rising number of theft incidents in the area has raised concern among local residents.
