Bus driver gets 6 months jail for accident that claimed pedestrian’s life

Mangaluru, April 29, 2023: A bus driver has been sentenced to six months imprisonment in connection with an accident case which claimed the life of a pedestrian.

 

The convict is Usman (37), a resident of Krishnapura Katipalla. The accident had occurred on January 16, 2020 at 10.30 am.  A person named Sunder Salian who was waiting for the bus at Baikampady junction was knocked down by a speeding bus which Usman was riding. Salian who had suffered serious injuries died on the spot.

A case was registered in Mangaluru North Police Station and the then investigation officer Mohan Kottari had filed the charge sheet in the Second JMFC Court.

The bus driver has also been imposed a penalty of Rs 6000. If he fails to pay the fine, he will have to undergo an additional three months and ten days imprisonment.
