Brooms and slippers greet Congress delegation in Niddodi!

Moodbidri, July 29, 2013: Niddodi is boiling. People of this village who had staged a massive protest on July 28, Sunday against the proposed 4000 mw ultra mega thermal power plant in the village and on Monday, gheraoed and virtually chased a Congress delegation which had been to elicit the views of the people on the project, by wielding brooms and slippers.

 

A Congress team comprising PV Mohan, TK Sudhir, Badruddin, Suresh Shetty and Denis D’Silva, Raitha Sangha leader Rohitaksha and a few others  had been to Niddodi but had to face angry protestors. The villagers prevented the team from entering the village and said they will not hear anyone but will air their problems only if their elected representative visited the village. The  angry group which was around 500 in number also began pelting stones forcing the delegation to return. The men were seen chasing the Congress team with brooms and slippers.

The Police who arrived at the spot  ensured that there was no untoward incident.
