Brahmavar: Woman stabbed to death over marriage rejection, accused found dead in well

Udupi, Sep 13, 2025: A shocking incident was reported from Puttanakatte in Kokkarne, Brahmavar police limits, where a young woman succumbed to injuries after being stabbed by her neighbour. The accused later died by suicide.

According to police, the accused Karthik Poojary, a resident of Chegaribettu in Kokkarne, attacked his 24-year-old neighbour Rakshita Poojary with a knife, stabbing her in the neck and chest after she rejected his marriage proposal. Seriously injured, Rakshita was rushed to Manipal Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries in the evening.

Following the incident, Karthik fled the scene. Later, his body was discovered in a nearby well, and police suspect that he died by suicide after committing the crime.

A case of murder has been registered at the Brahmavar police station, Udupi SP Hariram Shankar confirmed.
