Brahmavar: Woman loses Rs 1.38 lakh to fraudster impersonating bank officer

Brahmavar, December 2, 2025: A case has been registered at the Brahmavar Police Station after a man posing as a bank officer allegedly cheated a woman of ₹1.38 lakh through an online scam.

On November 20, the fraudster called Rita Rodrigues (50), a resident of Heruru village, introducing himself as a bank official and claiming that her ATM card needed renewal. He collected her Aadhaar and PAN card details and later sent an OTP to her mobile phone. After obtaining the OTP from her, he allegedly transferred a total of ₹1,38,900 from her bank account to his own in six separate transactions.
