Brahmavar, December 20, 2025: Police have detected a group of foreign nationals who were allegedly residing and working illegally at a private resort in Hanehalli of Haladi village near Hiriadka, and have registered a case in this connection.
Details of the incident:
The matter came to light when a foreign woman, claiming to be pregnant, visited the government hospital in Barkur for medical treatment. During verification of records, it was found that she did not possess any official identity card or travel documents. Hospital authorities immediately informed the Brahmavar police station.
Acting on the information, the Brahmavar Police Sub-Inspector visited the spot and conducted an inspection. It was found that six adults and three minor children were staying illegally at ‘Kuradi Sankamma Tayi Resort’ in Hanehalli village.
Those found were identified as Reepak Damai (28), Sunita Damai (27), Urmila (19), Kailash Damai (18), Kapil Damai (19), and Sunita Damai (21).
During police interrogation, none of them were able to produce any official documents such as Indian citizenship papers, passports, visas, or birth certificates. They also failed to clearly state their country of origin, raising suspicion that they had entered India illegally.
Action against the resort owner:
It has been learned that the resort belongs to Prithviraj Shetty Billadi, the BJP Yuva Morcha president.
Udupi Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar stated that all resort and lodge owners must mandatorily collect ‘C-Forms’ from foreign nationals staying on their premises and inform the district police office. If foreigners without valid documents arrive, it is the responsibility of the owners to immediately notify the police.
He warned that the stay of illegal foreign nationals poses a threat to internal security and that providing employment to undocumented individuals is a punishable offence. Strict legal action will be taken against owners and managers who facilitate or allow such illegal activities.
A case has been registered at the Brahmavar police station, and further investigation is underway.
