Brahmavar: Auto rickshaw overturns after dog runs across road; driver dies

Brahmavar, Mar 16, 2026: An auto rickshaw driver died after his vehicle overturned when a dog suddenly ran across the road at Mairkome Hall Dairy in Heggungje village of Brahmavar in Udupi.

The deceased has been identified as auto driver Narasimha Poojary.

According to reports, the incident occurred on March 13 afternoon when Narasimha Poojary was travelling from Shirur Moorkai towards Kokkarne. A dog suddenly came in front of the auto, and in an attempt to avoid hitting it, he swerved the vehicle sharply to the left. As a result, the auto lost control and overturned on the road.

Narasimha Poojary sustained serious injuries in the accident and was admitted to a private hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries on March 14 despite treatment.

A case has been registered at the Brahmavar Police Station.
