Bishop of Mangalore inaugurates conference on ‘safety of women’

Mangalore, Oct 13, 2013: The Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW) in association with Catholic Sabha, Mangalore Pradesh organized a conference on ‘safety of women’ on October 13, Sunday.


Chief Guest bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza inaugurated the conference and appreciated for the initiation taken by DCCW and Catholic Sabha for organizing the conference on crucial issue.

He also said that it has been seen that women are targeted towards violence in public places; hence we must fight to make society safe and also fight against crimes against the girl child.


Brahmakumari Vishweshari of Prajapati Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya said, it is necessary to educate men on the importance of girl child in society and her safety. 


DCCW president Lydia D’Cunha welcomed the gathering.


Shameera Jahan from Jamath-e-Islami Hind women’s wing, Advocate Shayamala Bhandary, law student Wafa, social worker Lidwin Lobo, ACP Kavita, DEEDS director Merlyn Martis and others were present.


Later bishop felicitated Prabha V Kudva, Patonji and Corrine Rasquinha for their contribution in the field of social work.
