Bird postal stamp exhibition held for world record

Brahmavara, Dec 9, 2011: An exhibition of bird postal stamps titled Birdpex was inaugurated by DC Dr. M. T. Reju. This exhibition has been organized by Daniel Monteiro, the postal stamp collector, for the Guinness Record, at St. Mary’s Syrian College on Wednesday.

Dr. N. A. Madhyasta, the environmentalist, and M. K. Krishnayya, the president of the DK District Stamp Collectors’ Association, were the chief guests. Prof. K. Narayana, the principal of the college, presided.

 

Rev. Ramban Scariya, the college correspondent; Mathew C. Ninan, the principal of Little Rock School; S. Gopal, the retired postal director; Ajit Kumar Hegde, the Mangalore Municipal Commissioner; and Joseph Suvares of the college administrative board were also present.

Over 5000 bird postal stamps from more than 170 countries are exhibited here. Since it is being held for the Guinness Record, postal department experts are making a comprehensive study of it. The public are welcome to view this exhibition.
