Bike rider fatally knocked down by truck

Mangalore, Aug 2, 2013: A motorcyclist died and his pillion rider injured after a pick-up truck rammed into their vehicle near Kula village, Bantwal taluk late Wednesday night.

The rider, Shivaprasad (42), a resident of Kemaje village nearby, succumbed to his injuriesat 12.40 a.m on Thursday in a private hospital here.

According to the Vittal Police, Shivaprasad and Ravindra (31) were riding on the Vittal-Kabaka road when a speeding pick-up truck coming from the opposite direction collided on to them on the narrow road around 10.30 p.m.

While Shivaprasad suffered serious head injuries – he wasn’t wearing a helmet – Ravindra’s leg was fractured.

The driver of the pick-up truck fled the scene of the accident.
