Bike bound assailants open fire at businessman’s car near Ballalbagh

Mangalore, Aug 2, 2013: Unidentified assailants fired  gun shots at the Scorpio vehicle in which Mangalore’s businessman Vijayendra Bhat was travelling near Ballalbagh on August 2, Friday evening. Bhat however escaped unhurt in the firing.

Sources said some unidentified  Pulsar bike bound assailants  fired at Bhat’s car when he was  on way to his apartment at Ballalbagh from Mannagudda. The car’s glass panes  were shattered due to the gun shots. Vijayendra Bhat who immediately stepped out of his car, rushed to a nearby hotel and saved himself by pulling down the shutter.

Eye witnesses said the assailants in their haste  to escape from the scene  were knocked off their two-wheeler when it hit another bike. Still they managed to rise and escape in their motorbike.

Sources revealed that Vijayendra Bhat had received a call  on July 29 by a person identifying himself as underworld don Vicky Shetty demanding hafta. The person had also threatened to kill Bhat if he turned down the demand.


Vijayendra Bhat who runs the Sudhindra Mills near PVS also owns a commercial complex.
